Job Title: Grant Writer (Volunteer)

Reports directly to: National Coordinator

Purpose: To build the capacity of NOVOC secretariat and its members by providing technical assistance through grant preparation, submission and follow up.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development of the fund raising strategy for the network
  • Analyze new strategies for income and provide written recommendations
  • Identify and develop new grant sources – single and multi-year
  • Establish and maintain relationships with funders
  • Write, submit and track grant applications
  • Gather budget materials for applications and ensure compliance with funding requirements
  • Maintain timeline for proposals and report back to funding sources in an accurate and timely manner
  • Supervise grant writing for smaller projects run by network members
  • Oversee reporting requirements for grants and contracts
  • Handle confidential grants materials/records with great discretion
  • Regularly report in writing about all grant search and application activities to the National Coordinator

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have demonstrated grant writing success from public and private sources
  • Must have worked in nonprofit sector with annual budgets exceeding $200K
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in public administration, public policy, or business administration
  • Proficiency in computer use, specifically Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, Power Point, Front Page and Access
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills
  • Ability to compile and analyze data for oral and written presentation
